‘And by the way, we are going to have to — if you’re very old, we’re not going to give you all that technology and all those drugs for the last couple of years of your life to keep you maybe going for another couple of months. It’s too expensive, so we’re going to let you die.’ [applause]

‘Also, I’m going to use the bargaining leverage of the federal government in terms of Medicare, Medicaid — we already have a lot of bargaining leverage — to force drug companies and insurance companies and medical suppliers to reduce their costs. But that means less innovation, and that means less new products and less new drugs on the market, which means you are probably not going to live that much longer than your parents. [applause] Thank you.’” –Robert Reich, President Clinton’s labor secretary, in a speech at Berkeley in 2007.

Democrats, death panels and dying early — it’s all in there, folks.  We have got to keep up the fight against people who would just “let us die”.

Think about it. Why is every other type of insurance such as life insurance (closely related to health care wouldn’t you say), car insurance, homeowners/renters insurance, flood insurance, hurricane insurance, heck you name the type of insurance, so cheap (and in several cases down right cut-throat) yet health insurance costs an arm and a leg? (pun intended) What’s the primary difference?

DUH! THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS INVOLVED IN HEALTH CARE/INSURANCE!!

Once again Socialism rears it’s ugly, destructive head. What was once a health care system where doctors made house calls and a single aspirin didn’t cost over five dollars (during a hospital stay) is now crippling many small businesses and costing larger corporations money that could be better spent on things like research and development, expanding by hiring more workers, etc…

President Obama stated “In the last eight years, health insurance premiums have grown fours times faster than wages. And in each of these years, 1 million more Americans have lost their health insurance.”

Close Mr President, but no cigar. (A little Bill Clinton reference there…)

According to Calvin Woodward and Jim Kuhnhenn of the Associated Press, “…It’s not true that the number of uninsured rose each year by 1 million. In 2007, the ranks of the uninsured dropped by 1.3 million from the year before to 45.7 million.”

But that’s just the economic angle. What would socializing the health care industry do to health care in this country? For starters we can look at other countries who have tried basically the same thing that BHO and his willing accomplices in the Democrat controlled congress are about to foist on the rest of us.

In Britain for example, as many as 25,000 people die unnecessary cancer deaths a year because of under-provision of care, according to the World Health Organization. Waiting lists for medical treatment have become so long that there are now waiting lists for the waiting list!

In Canada, after a patient has been referred to a specialist the waiting list is 4 to 12 weeks for gynecological surgery, 12 to 18 weeks for cataract removal, 3 to 36 weeks for a tonsillectomy, and 5 to 30 weeks for neurosurgery (to name just a few of the procedures there’s a waiting list for). In fact the Canadian government (the Socialist Canadian government) spends over 1 billion dollars a year for Canadians to receive medical treatment in the US.

In Sweden, the world’s socialist “wonder”, a Gothenburg muliple sclerosis patient was prescribed a new drug. His doctors request was denied because the drug was 33 percent more expensive than the medicine he was currently taking. The patient offered to pay for the medicine himself but was prevented from doing so. The Swedish health care “experts” said that it would set a bad precedent and lead to “unequal access to medicine”. There go the Socialists and their all consuming desire for “fairness”. Heaven forbid someone should have better medicine than another person. So Swedish citizens should ALL suffer equally rather than someone get the medicine and care that they need to survive?

Also in Sweden, clinics have security guards to keep patients from getting unruly as they wait for hours to see a doctor. When the waiting room is full the guards prevent new patients from entering the clinic. Uppsala, a city of over 200,000 people has just one specialist in mammography.

I think economist Dr. Walter E. Williams said it best. “We have problems in our health care system but most of them are a result of too much government. Over 50 percent of health care expenditures in our country are made by government. Government health care advocates might say that they will avoid the horrors of other government run systems. Don’t believe them.”

Here, here Dr. Williams. Barak Obama would have us believe that whatever system he can come up with will be somehow better than the free market and not as bad as other socialist health care programs. Don’t believe him.

And that’s another reason why WE WANT HIM TO FAIL!
